Home Deconstruction
An article in Sunday’s Seattle Times, Recycling That Old House by Nancy Chaney http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/realestate/2012734540_realsalvage29.html , documents a families recent experience with deconstruction – recycling building materials in advance of a major home remodel or demolition project. Deconstruction gives new life to materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill. The article also provides resources on companies to contact that offer deconstruction services. While some charge for this, most offer it as a free service in exchange for the materials they take. You’ll also receive a nice charitable donation tax receipt in addition to not having to pay for disposal fees. For further information, we provide a few links about deconstruction on the Resources section of our site under Green Building – http://www.grouparch.com/resources/green-building/resource-websites
