LIV APARTMENTS – CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – LATE JAN. 2014
The LIV Apartments are progressing nicely as this grade is prepared for concrete. Prior to ground covering the various trades have been working to install main lines for plumbing and electrical as the opportunities to do sub grade work get substantially more difficult and expensive after concrete slab on grade is poured and cured.
Before the concrete slab on grades a robust waterproofing and protection layers are laid down. These layers serve several functions, one of which being a capillary break between the earth and the concrete slab. Water travels in the path of least resistance so protecting the concrete is critical for longevity and indoor air quality. After the slab on grade cures for work quickly moves to set forms for the next level above. Rebar and post tensioning cables are set according to drawings, and pumping trucks pour concrete.
