LIV Apartments – Construction Update – September

September at the LIV Apartments was a busy month.  Trades worked on all aspects of the project from exterior cladding detailing and painting to interior gypsum board and work on unit interiors.  At the West Building, the gateway feature wall takes shape as the composite wood panels are installed and frame the western entrance to the site from Bel-Red Road.

Along Bel-Red Road the massing of the west and north buildings can be seen as the gateway wall emphasizes the entry point into the site.  The North Building, which will also have a similar gateway feature wall, is in the last stages of wood framing.

At the central courtyard crews have been working to paint portions of the West Building.  Moving into fall, as the weather becomes more volatile, crews have to work to maximize dry days and paint at every opportunity.

Elsewhere on the project, the South Building is being weatherproofed as the weather resistant barrier and rain screen/cladding are installed.  Masons will soon begin brick work at the loft units along the street level of the courtyard.  These featured loft units are also located on the Bel-Red frontage of the West Building and offer space for a wider variety of residential unit types.

Work also continues on the North Building as framing crews complete the eighth level and will soon begin work on the roof trusses and waterproofing.  In the foreground, the foundation of the east building and adjacent service lane takes shape.  This area will be the location for the generators and transformers that will serve the North and East Buildings.

The East Building readies for its slab on grade as crews have installed all sub grade plumbing and electrical systems to be followed by the vapor barrier.  Once poured, the slab on grade will serve as support for the formwork to hold the second level post tensioned concrete deck.  Additionally, planter walls and other landscaping features have been cast as building concrete work on the LIV apartments will soon wrap up.

Stay tuned as progress will continue on the North Building framing, the cladding of the South Building, and continued concrete work on the East Building.
