A large entertaining deck was envisioned by the homeowners to replace a small existing deck. In order to keep the scale in proportion the home and to relate to the sloping waterfront site, a terrace deck is proposed creating various gathering spaces for different times of the year as well as sizes of groups. The lower deck contains an outdoor fireplace and pizza oven that also doubles as a screening element to an adjacent home. The project is proposed in phases so the owners can add on to the deck and patio space over time to lower their initial construction costs
